Cinch Connectivity converts to Tergo MCF
Case Study: Cinch Connectivity Transitions Seamlessly to Tergo™ MCF Cleaning Fluid
Industry: Aerospace, Military, Medical, Telecommunications
Client: Cinch Connectivity Solutions
Solution Provided By: D&S Ultra-Clean Ltd
Challenge: Replacement of phased-out 3M™ Novec™ 73DE solvent
Solution: Tergo™ MCF from MicroCare
Result: Maintained cleaning performance with reduced running costs
Background
Cinch Connectivity Solutions is a globally respected supplier of high-performance connectors, serving demanding industries such as aerospace, military, medical, and telecommunications. In early 2022, Cinch invested in a Cleanseal ultrasonic solvent cleaning system from D&S Ultra-Clean Ltd to support their rigorous manufacturing standards.
The system was initially commissioned using 3M™ Novec™ 73DE, delivering reliable performance and exceptional component cleanliness. “The machine and solvent worked well together from the start, so we were really happy,” said Kevin Davis, Sales and Technical Manager at Cinch.
The Challenge
Later in 2022, 3M™ announced the discontinuation of its Novec™ product line, prompting Cinch to search for an alternative solvent that could match the established standard without disrupting their workflow. “The announcement came as a shock,” Kevin recalled. “It was essential that we maintain the high standard of cleanliness we had become accustomed to.”
The Solution: Tergo™ MCF
As the newly appointed UK distributor for MicroCare, D&S Ultra-Clean was uniquely positioned to provide a solution. Their team had already validated the Tergo™ range of cleaning fluids in-house and recognized Tergo™ MCF as a highly compatible and cost-effective alternative to Novec™ 73DE.
D&S invited Cinch to evaluate Tergo™ MCF through a series of sample cleaning trials conducted at their Runcorn demonstration facility. The outcome was definitive:
“We found the components to be 100% clean with a very bright finish and no staining,” said Kevin Davis. “This gave us the confidence to proceed quickly with the transition.”
Implementation
The changeover to Tergo™ MCF was coordinated to coincide with Cinch’s relocation to a new production facility, allowing for a seamless installation. “D&S carried out the conversion in sync with our move, making the whole process trouble-free,” Kevin added.
The Results
Cinch has now been operating with Tergo™ MCF for several months and reports exceptional performance, with added operational benefits:
-
Consistently high component cleanliness
-
Significantly reduced running costs
-
Smooth integration into existing workflows
“Maintaining cleaning performance while reducing costs has been a real positive outcome,” concluded Kevin Davis.
Conclusion
The collaboration between Cinch and D&S Ultra-Clean highlights the effectiveness and reliability of Tergo™ MCF as a next-generation solvent solution—ensuring compliance, performance, and cost-efficiency in critical cleaning environments.
